Efficacy of Narrative Therapy in Career Counseling Groups: The First Year College Experience
Due to the changing demands in student populations enrolled in American colleges and universities, a career counseling group with foundations of the narrative therapeutic framework and the StrengthsQuest student development model was developed and implemented for first-generation, low-income students from a historically disadvantaged background to enhance services associated with identity and major/career development in their first year college experience. As a result of this intervention, students' developed new knowledge, attitudes and awareness, and skills for college success and major/career choice. Both qualitative and quantitative data were analyzed and discussed.
NOTE: Above is a Poster Presentation presented at the 2009 American Counseling Association (ACA) Annual Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. Full Project Write-Up Coming Soon.
